Zachary Quinto starred as Chad Warwick in the first season of American Horror Story. He played a disgruntled husband to Teddy Sears‘ Patrick. The duo reunites in NBC‘s upcoming series, Brilliant Minds.
The new story takes them away from the murder house where lives end to a hospital where lives are saved.
In Brilliant Minds, Quinto plays Doctor Oliver Sacks. The series is inspired by the extraordinary life and works of the world-famous queer author.
Below is the official description by NBC:
‘Brilliant Minds’ follows a revolutionary, larger-than-life neurologist and his team of interns as they explore the last great frontier — the human mind — while grappling with their own relationships and mental health.
Other cast members include Tamberla Perry as Dr. Carol Pierce, Ashleigh LaThrop as Dr. Ericka Kinney, Alex MacNicoll as Dr. Van Markus, Aury Krebs as Dr. Dana Dang, Spence Moore II (The Rookie) as Dr. Jacob Nash, and Donna Murphy.
Sears plays Josh Nichols, a doctor in the institution.
While Sears and Quinto played husbands in American Horror Story, it is unclear if they’re love interests in Brilliant Minds.
Chad and Patrick from American Horror Story are husbands who move into the infamous murder house. The couple is looking to expand their family with newborns, but cracks develop when Patrick steps out of the relationship and falls in love with his trainer.
The relationship becomes increasingly sour. Death is supposed to end everything, but not in the murder house.
When they both meet an untimely death, they must confront each other and themselves trapped in a place where there is nothing else to do except stew in their own mess.
More Details About ‘Brilliant Minds’
The series will have 13 episodes in the first season.
During the 2024 TCA Tour, writer/executive producer Michael Grassi revealed that the show was renamed from Dr. Wolf to Brilliant Minds so as not to be confused with the popular producer behind shows like Chicago P.D., Dick Wolf.
Grassi also revealed that production took liberty with the character to make him more modern, but the show includes little details about the late Dr. Sacks.
Quinto said that it was an honor to play an openly gay character. Dr. Sacks came out later in life and abstained from sex and relationships after the AIDS menace. The series will, however, change some things.
Brilliant Minds airs on NBC on Mondays at 10 p.m. beginning September 23.
