‘Gen V’ Season 2 Won’t Have Andre Anderson

Gen V is queer, but its queerest character won’t be in Season 2.

Following Chance Perdomo‘s death, Gen V‘s producers decided to write the character out instead of recasting it as one way to honor Perdomo’s memory.

For one season, Perdomo played Godolkin’s finest bisexual superhuman with the ability to manipulate metal. The series was renewed for Season 2, but Perdomo passed away before it entered production.

The cast was preparing to assemble for the first table read before filming began in Canada. Perdomo was heading to Toronto on his motorbike when he was involved in a single-motorist accident that claimed his life. He died on the spot in Upstate New York.

Producers have decided not to recast the character. In a message posted on Twitter, they confirmed that they will recraft the story to allow for a proper goodbye to the character.

“As we continue to navigate the tragic loss of Chance Perdomo, everyone at Gen V is determined to find the best way to pay respect to his memory. We won’t be recasting the role, because no one can replace Chance. Instead, we have been taking the time and space to recraft our Season 2 storylines as we begin production in May. We will honor Chance and his legacy this season.”

Andre to Be Killed Off In ‘Gen V’ Season 2

Update: June 06, 2024

Eric Kripke told TV Line that the show will kill off the character in the upcoming season. He spoke of this tough decision, saying,

“We’re not trying to replace him because we can’t. We’re playing the character’s death on the show. So it’s very heavy and it’s really emotionally difficult for the cast. And we’re just trying to honor Chance as best we can.”

Perdomo rose to prominence while playing Ambrose Spellman in The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina on Netflix. Ambrose was Sabrina’s bisexual cousin and warlock. He helped Sabrina solve the numerous supernatural problems that came at them from all sides.

Perdomo brought two Black Queer characters to life, helping increase the portrayal of bisexuality on television. Viewers and his coworkers hailed him for his immense talent as a great human being. Following his death, the people he had worked with recalled his jovial nature, which brightened their days.
