Danny Ramirez is one of Hollywood’s rising stars, having starred in several high-profile projects in the past several years.
From blockbusters like Top Gun: Maverick to Netflix originals like Look Both Ways and Black Mirror Season 6, the star seems to have no ceiling.
His next film role is just as big, starring alongside Joaquin Phoenix in an untitled film from May December director Todd Haynes, Deadline reports.
Details about the film are not out yet, but it is set to follow two men, played by Ramirez and Phoenix, who are intense lovers.
The detective film follows both men as they leave California for Mexico.
Haynes, who directed the acclaimed sapphic film Carol, will direct the film. Haynes and Phoenix developed the script alongside Jon Raymond.
Ramirez plays Joaquin Torres in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in projects like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
He will next be seen in Captain America: New World Order, reprising his role from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Ramirez was also cast in Season 2 of The Last of Us.
This film is Ramirez’s first time playing a queer character but not starring in a queer project.
He was latest seen in Jac Gron‘s queer lover triangle film, From Chestnut, alongside Natalie Dyer (Stranger Things) and Rachel Keller (Tokyo Vice).
