‘House of the Dragon’ — Harry Collett Wants More #Jacegan

Even with a single scene in House of the Dragon Season 2 and the entire show, #Jacegan is still in high demand.

This is thanks to the characters’ strong bond in the books on which the show is based.

Harry Collett plays Jacaerys Velaryon. With Season 2 in the rearview mirror, Collett spoke to Variety, addressing his character’s surprising fate turn and being half of #Jacegan.

“I would love for there to be more of Jace and Cregan, purely because of the fact we only had one long scene together,” Collett says when asked if viewers will see more of Jace and Cregan Stark’s friendship.

“I feel like there’s a lot we can do with that.”

That one long scene was a great introduction to the duo, who viewers are convinced are more than friends. Their first interaction is top-tier material for a gay epic love story — one House of the Dragon could use.

“I really enjoyed doing it with Tom Taylor. But we’ll have to wait and see,” continued Collett, praising his scene partner.

“And if I did know anything, I would, sadly, not be able to tell you. But I hope so,” he concluded.

HBO has renewed House of the Dragon for a third season, and writers are busy with the scripts. When the scripts are ready and the NDA expires, viewers will most likely know how much Jace and Cregan there will be.

The Season 2 finale ends on a cliffhanger as different factions of Westeros prepare to go to war.

According to the books, Jace doesn’t survive the war and becomes the second Velaryon to die on dragon back.

However, the season ends with Jace alive and kicking. Collett revealed that he was shocked at the turn of events.

“I did think this would be it for me and Jace,” Collett said about his expectations for his character.

“And it’s always that awkward moment of going to the script reading going, ‘Oh, I don’t know if this is the time, and am I gonna have to do this in front of everyone?’ But it got to the point where we read the last episode in the script read, and it was just a surprise. I went up to Ryan, and I was like, ‘Dude, I thought this was it? I thought I was gonna die!’

The Death Call

There’s something called “The Death Call,” which Collett expected.

“I said to Ryan, ‘I thought this was my time.’ And he said, ‘Mate, I would have called you!’ You get something called ‘the death call,’ so you don’t have to do it at the script read in front of everybody, which I think is very nice.”

And may that call take a long time to come, or never.

However, Collett has read the books and knows how Jace dies.

“My reaction to Jace’s fate from the books is I’m quite happy with it,” Collett admitted.

“I feel like it’s quite a heroic death. I’m not just getting stabbed or poisoned. It’s a death in battle, which I think everybody wants or wishes for,” he concluded.

Has Westerosie culture rubbed off on him? Because that’s what Jace would say.
