Actor and singer-songwriter Michael Johnston enters a new era in his song, Gravity.
Johnston is best known as an actor for his role in Teen Wolf as Corey, but he’s also a singer with several singles. In Gravity, however, he rises to new heights.
The song is catchy, with alluring lyrics, a good chorus, some hard-to-hit notes for the regular guy (that doesn’t stop us from trying), and a gorgeous music video to boot. Fun fact: the viral music video is Johnston’s first.
Gravity conveys the yearning he’s experiencing as he sings to the object of his affection. He takes the listener through the conflicting feelings people who fall in love experience, including loss of self-control and the desire to serve — not like serve 💁🏿♂️, serve, but literally serve.
The lyrics are accompanied by well-layered instrumentals that elevate the mood and give the song an air of fun and joy.
Let me take you to the apogee.
We can be anywhere you want to be.
We can go on and on till we run out of gravity.

Johnston takes us through his mind in a fairly simple concept that is brilliantly executed.
‘Gravity’ Is About Love At First Sight
He works at dinner, and it’s one of those days when you must go to work. Johnston opens up the place, and the first guy to walk in is a tall drink of water who catches his attention.
He has a great excuse to talk to the guy (played by Chris Labadie) and approaches the table with some water (more water for the tall drink of water). Johnston is smitten because he can’t focus on the task at hand as he sings the song’s lyrics. He makes a fool of himself when the water glass overflows, causing a mess.
The embarrassed waiter rushes to the back to get some towels to dry the table and hangs around the back too long because, by the time he comes out, the guy is gone.
However, all is not lost because something is scribbled on a paper towel.
What do you do when you get your crush’s phone number? Well, you naturally plan the rest of your life together.
Johnston thinks of all the cute things they could do together, like riding bikes, hanging on a rooftop, holding hands, and doing other cutesy things. My god!
After his fantasy ends, he texts the unnamed guy.
Everything has an upside, even being awkward before your crush. What is that you ask? Well, you have your opener.
Johnston tells a gay love story in the most effective way: telling a normal love story. That’s not to downplay the importance of such a music video because we rarely see them.
The song and its video are perfect in their message and visuals.
Rating: 10/10.
