Sexy gay movies are so back, and Jacob Elordi‘s next one will be even sexier than Saltburn or Euphoria.
In his next feature film role, Elordi plays Julius, a Korean war vet who returns home and embarks on an adventure of a queer nature.
On Swift Horses brings together a talented ensemble, including Elordi, Diego Calva, Will Poulter, and Daisy Edgar-Jones.
The film is adapted from Shannon Pufahl‘s 2019 novel of the same name. Daniel Minahan of Fellow Travellers directed it.
The film begins with Julius hitching a ride to his brother’s house, where Lee (Poulter) lives with his wife, Muriel (Edgar-Jones). Muriel and Julius develop a connection based on a mutual secret.
Both are queer in a world that would have loved to believe that they didn’t exist. Soon after, they move to San Diego and start grinding for their American dream.
They later move to Vegas, where Julius gets a job catching cheaters at a casino. While there, he meets and starts a romantic relationship with Henry (Calva).
‘On Swift Horses’ Will Feature Explicit Sex and Love Scenes
The film is set to feature intense sexual content as the men secretly live together in a motel room.
Calva had teased these scenes to Variety. “I don’t know if I can say this, but we are going to have pretty hot scenes in this movie…You have to wait. But I think it will be a pretty cool movie,” he told the outlet about his career post-Babylon.
“We had a week of intensive [prep] in the motel room, and Dan gave us a lot of freedom to run around and to play and to find that love within those four walls,” Elordi told Vanity Fair about prepping for the film.
Muriel pursues her desire elsewhere when she meets Sandra (Sasha Calle). The situation is complicated because her husband continues to express his unconditional love to her and her brother.
Elordi described the film as “a sprawling, epic, nongeneric love story.”
An image from the film courtesy of the outlet features the actors wholly transformed to meet the standards of the 1950s.
A hyped Henry clinks glasses with a puzzled Julius as they gaze upon each other’s faces.
The film promises a small measure of authenticity, with the director being a gay man.
On Swift Horses made its world debut at 2024’s TIFF on September 7. A theatrical or streaming date is yet to be announced.
