While being closeted is no fun, it can create funny situations. Overcompensating explores those rib-cracking moments.

Benito Skinner stars in and created the Prime Video comedy, which explores a closeted guy’s adventures in college. Below is the show’s official description.

Overcompensating is a college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny (Skinner), a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen (Wally Baram), a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs.

With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs.

Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.

Prime Video released a first look teaser, teeing up Benny’s attempts to find himself in a world that tries to prescribe who people should be.

Overcompensating Trailer and Cast

The comedy is college-raunchy, as shown in the video above, which begins with Benny jerking off in the bathroom.

This doesn’t seem foreign to him as other men are shown in other stalls, hinting that he’s done this in public or several times.

However, in this instance, he’s preparing himself to have sex with his girlfriend. His mind is focused on an image of a hot guy he’s actually attracted to.

However, Benny is not the only one pretending.

A montage shows other college students trying to fit in by doing some wild stuff.

Meanwhile, Benny’s roommate Trey interrupts his romp, but Benny doesn’t seem to mind since Trey is very attractive.

Trey was Benny’s self-love fantasy.

Also, there’s Charli XCX, who does not want to play “Boom Clap” in a college.
