‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Season 3 Finds Julian La Cosse’s Partner in Wolé Parks

Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) and his team will explore the world of (potentially) murderous gays in The Lincoln Lawyer, Season 3.

Toward the end of Season 2, Haller’s friend, Glory Days (Fiona Renee), was murdered. They had done favors for each other for a long time, and she even helped him catch Russell, a murderer who wanted both of them dead.

Mickey was preoccupied most of the season with Lisa Trammel’s (Lana Parrilla) case. The woman had been accused of murdering a businessman, but it turns out she was innocent of that. She had killed and buried her husband instead.

Mickey was also involved with her romantically.

The Lincoln Lawyer’s New Client

Mickey received a call from one Julian LaCosse, who was in jail accused of murdering his friend, Gisselle Dallinger. He didn’t know a Gisselle Dallinger, so he went to see the body, only to find it was his good friend Glory Days.

In The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey usually takes on a season-long client accused of a serious crime like murder. In Season 3, he will help figure out who killed Glory Days, and the only way to know to be involved is by representing Julian.

Mickey will need to learn everything about Julian, from his work to his personal life, to be an effective counsel.

Much is not known about Julian, but given that Glory Days was a sex worker, Julian might have run in the same circles. It will be a great opportunity to highlight the plight suffered by sex workers.

In his private life, viewers will meet Julian’s long-time partner, David Lyons. Deadline revealed that Wolé Parks had been cast for the role.

Devon Graye will reprise his role as Julian Lacosse in the upcoming season.

Graye is best known for portraying Young Dexter Morgan in the Showtime series Dexter. Parks is best known for portraying John Henry Irons in Superman & Lois. Both roles are authentically cast.

‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ Has Had Controversial Representation Before

The show is based on the books of the same name by Michael Connelly. While there are queer characters in the books and the 2011 movie led by Matthew McConaughey, it is the representation of its time without tropes like bury your gays.

This series features a lesbian character who is lost in the background. But in all fairness, most characters in The Lincoln Lawyer are relegated to the background, only appearing to serve the main character’s journey. The client, however, gets more focus than most.

It is unclear what the 10-episode third season will focus on, but it will be based on the fifth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, Gods of Guilt. Series creators have hinted that they will take some liberties this season. Thus, it might not be as close to the book as other seasons have been.

Both seasons of The Lincoln Lawyer are available to watch on Netflix.
