In new look images released by Netflix on the upcoming Young Royals Season 3 — the show’s final season, Prince Wilhelm and Simon are smiling!
That might not seem significant in many shows, but for Young Royals, it’s the mother lode.
For two long seasons, fans have watched as Wilhelm and Simon fall in love with each other, but their story hasn’t had the smoothest sailing given that Wilhelm is a literal prince and Simon comes from an economically disadvantaged background.
Everything seemed to work against these star-crossed lovers, but they always found their way to each other, and after trying so hard, their patience seems to have paid off.
The season two finale saw Wille take a leap and confess his feelings for Simon in front of the whole world, despite being warned against it.
He was exhausted from concealing his deep feelings for Simon and feared that revealing them could have serious consequences, as they are a gay couple in a society where leadership is based on heredity and having biological heirs.
Their relationship seemed to threaten the monarchy since Wille was next in line to inherit the throne.
These images tease a great outcome for the couple because they are seen doing things they would have only dreamed of doing a short while prior.
Wilhelm finally introduces his boyfriend to his parents, and he’s all smiles as he does so.
The couple then starts going out officially (or so we assume) as they can be seen dancing with their friends and swimming, activities they would have only dreamt of doing out in the open.
As the show is set to premiere in March of this year, it will be an opportunity to let these young lovers live their lives while reconciling their love with the outside world (or vice versa).
Show stars have teased an emotional and satisfying ending to the story, and we can’t wait to see what happens.
